All you want from a proper Côtes du Rhône.
With attractive, bramble fruit and floral aromas, the palate is up-front and fresh with warm spice and real depth. This is a classic southern Rhône red; ripe and characterful with smooth supple tannins.
In the vineyard
From vines grown on his own family domaine in the heart of the southern Rhone valley. With an average age of 30-35 years, the grapes from the older vines were picked by hand.
60% Grenache, 20% Carignan, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah.
In the winery
Hand picked bunches are carefully destemmed and vinified using traditional minimal interventionalist techniques. This wine is made without the use of oak as we seek to retain a pure fresh fruit character.
Lovely with BBQs; grilled meats, halloumi and vegetables. Herby sausages, pasta with Mediterranean vegetables.
2011 Vintage: "Character, balance and integration won this applause and a Perfect Pub spot on the By the Glass list. Deep red/purple in the glass, it has good juicy, berry fruit wrapped with the right amount of spice, finishing with a plum-driven flourish. 'Nice body, crisp acidity, a fine length and a long finish,' said a happy James Hocking of the Vineyard Group." Sommelier Wine Awards 2013, Judges Comments
