How it all began
Paul Boutinot's passion for food and wine is in his blood. The son of a successful restaurateur, he became disillusioned by the poor quality wines available to the on-trade at the time so headed off to France to purchase the quality house wines he knew existed and brought them back to his Father's restaurant. Soon word got around and restaurants in the north west were coming to Paul to supply them with wines for their own restaurants. This was the very beginning of what was to become a thriving wine business.

Moving forward
In 1980 Paul Boutinot founded Boutinot Limited in his hometown of Manchester. Paul's vision of how wine should be made and stylistic ideals were put to the test nine years later, with the establishment of a production site in France (just outside of Beaujolais) and the creation of the iconic Cuvee Jean-Paul range of house wines, named after Paul's sons. The company rapidly grew with production starting in South Africa in 1994, our International Sales division established in 1995, False Bay Vineyards founded in South Africa in 1999 and the first sales office opened in the USA in 2000 due to demand.

Investment
Investment in vineyards in South Africa in 2004 and the development of a state of the art winery over the coming years will form a focus for the company. However a passion for France, in particular the Rhone, exciting joint venture projects with like-minded producers in Italy and Spain and developments in the New World will see Boutinot continue to grow and prosper.

Paul Boutinot's influence is still felt through his winemaking involvement in all our Boutinot Own Prodution wines, complemented by our highly qualified and experienced teams throughout the world.

Throughout all, our aims have remained unaltered – to supply quality wines, which are representative of the region and variety at every price point.
